I love this time of year. So many colors and tones on the landscape. It makes me happy. I will admit that I do have a favorite. It’s the reds that get me every time. To think that a cool green leaf could change and become such an intensely vibrant red thrills me. It is what makes Bucks County such a great place to live. There is beauty in all directions. Which leads me into the topic of fall hair. Not only is it a time of change for the scenery but it is a terrific time to deepen or richen your hair color. Myth says we need to go lighter as we age. Truth says skin tone, lifestyle, features and bone structure has far more say in what colors you should be wearing on your hair. As a hairstylist of over 25 years, I have seen some amazing transformations through the hair coloring and hair cutting world. Internally and externally I might add with a grin. One of my long term clients came in yesterday for her monthly root touch up. I had forgotten before her arrival that on her last visit we darkened her color and made her a beautiful warm rich brown. It was the best surprise of the day when I looked over at her upon her arrival and couldn’t help but say WOW at how great she looked. Her skin was glowing and her eyes looked beautiful. What an improvement for her. Completely transformational.
A great stylist is one that can choose your colors for you and know how to place them on your hair along side of a great haircut to accentuate the best you. A great client is one that has an open mind for change. One of my clients once told me “Hair is a renewable resouce”. Words to live by and change by. Oh and by the way, we cut about 6 inches off my hair today.
Enjoy the season, take time for inner beauty and relaxation. When life goes into fast forward make sure to hit pause.
